In both versions, that option basically turns on whether to transform an epub to kepub or not. It shouldn't have any effect on other formats in the library, such as kepubs. But, with it disabled, it blocks the renaming of kepubs. That code has been in the driver for at least six years, so it isn't anything new. I do not believe that is correct behaviour. I have changed this in the attached beta I have posted in the extended drivers thread.

For the record, if you turn off the kepub transformation, then you probably should go back to the built-in KoboTouch driver. The other options, such as the hyphenation can be done without this, but, I do not know if the RMSDK based epub reader uses those options.
Thanks. That worked to send a kepub already in the library without changing any settings at all, so now I can send kepubs AND epubs in the same connected session.

I like the explicit check box for "on the fly conversion".

The connecting to Sage and sending to device seemed faster but maybe my imagination! It's only got about 180 ebooks and a few PDFs vs over 2000 ebooks on the original edition Libra.

I have 4 different models of Kobo and also manage the ebooks on wife's Kobo (replaced a Kindle PW3) as she prefers to just read.

No need now. Anyway, the bits snipped were mostly about conversion, nothing to do with the Kobo or the driver.

I only want to send some pre-converted kepub ebooks to one Kobo. Mostly I prefer to use the epubs on all the kobos. It's not possible to turn extended features on/off on the fly and in one session I might want to send epubs (as epubs) and kepubs.

I guess many people only use epub or only "extended features on"
It's fixed, but, why are you using the extended driver? The point of it is to transform to kepubs on the fly. If you do not want to do that, then remove the extended driver and use the built-in KoboTouch driver. The extended driver does have some other options, but, I'd be stunned if you are using them

The standard Driver is renaming the from <title>.kepub to <title>.epub.kepub, but otherwise it doesn't work. Neither epubs or kepubs appear. Book files don't get removed either even though Calibre shows them gone.

Very strange.
I did repair account, power off / on. The Kepubs (which are on it and named properly) didn't appear, nor the epub, not even with search books.

I reconnected again and resent a missing epub after checking Database OK.
After the eject got long import bar and the missing 31 kepubs appeared as well as the epub.

If you install NickelMenu, you can have an option to recheck for all new eBook like it does when you eject.

Code:
menu_item :main :Import books :nickel_misc :rescan_books_full

And how would that have made any difference? It was connected and properly ejected several times. On one occasion there was the progress bar but none of the books (actually verified to be on Sage via file manager) were added. Later after adding a book and 4th ejection they did appear.

I did put the 1 click KOReader on the Elipsa, purely to crop PDFs. I've never felt any need to customise any other of my Kobos in any way. I do use KOReader on the Mars for epubs, but its stock reader is OK for cropping PDFs.

What I have found is that if an ebook does not import after being sent to the Kobo, it will still be there and cause issues with future imports. In past, my procedure when an import fails is to remove any ebooks that I sent that were not imported and then to resend in smaller batches until one batch fails. Take that batch and send them one at a time until one does not import.

Since I started opening every epub with Sigil and running it's error checking (including but not limited to epubcheck) before sending to my Kobo devices, I haven't run into an import issue. Hmmm.... that last sentence is just tempting fate.

I too make sure that my eBooks I send to my Kobo are error free, Ever since I've had a Kobo, I've not had a single import fail.

The ebooks are 100% OK.
I check.
Whatever the problem was, it wasn't the epubs or kepubs. It's working now. Very strange.
