Thanks for the heads-up about the glue! I shall be quite careful! It will be great if enough adhesive remains in place in my Nova to keep the new battery in place!

I admit I was tempted to buy a new Nova, but if a battery is a lot less expensive than a new device, and if my present device is perfectly good, it seems like a good idea to try the new battery route first.

Device: More than I need, but not as many as I would like.
Not having much experience with such matters, it was initially a little bit nerve racking taking such an expensive device apart. However, there really wasn't much to lose since my Note Pro wasn't holding much of a charge. And it certainly was cheaper than buying a new ereader.

One more thing to be careful about is disposing of the old battery when you remove it from the device. I was careful not to damage the battery when I removed it. I then placed tape over the ends of the disconnected wires so that they could accidentally touch and short themselves.

After that, I just placed it in a container with a bunch of other old batteries. I usually wait until I have a sufficient quantity to take to a hazardous waste disposal centre. When I did eventually decide to make the trip to the waste disposal depot last summer, I discovered that the battery was very swollen. It was a little alarming. If I ever have to remove a similar battery again, I won't keep it around any longer than absolutely necessary.

My new battery is going to be delivered today - sooner than originally stated. From what I see in this thread, the process of replacing the old battery with this one is not overly complicated, but needs to be done carefully. The old battery needs to be disposed of with lots of care as well.

The old battery is holding about half the charge it held when new. So it seems to be time for a change!

The battery I ordered came with the tools needed to open the case. It's like a guitar pick. You slide it around the seam to loosen the case. As I say, there is a video...

Found it:

You must unsolder the existing battery connections to the mobo, then solder the new battery connections to the same points. You do not need fresh solder. Simply heat the leftover solder that is on the mobo points, and connect the wires.

Take photos of everything prior to removing the old battery as a guide.
Recientemente he cambiado la bateria de un Note. Solo indicar que en mi caso la bateria nueva venía con un conector válido, por lo que no fue necesario soldar de nuevo.
Un saludo

I think it is the software update causing battery issues

Hi, I have noticed the new update is chewing up my battery. Sometimes if I take it out of the case the back feels warm (actually hot) to the touch. I encourage anyone experiencing the same issue to send onyx feedback so they can fix it asap. I did not have this issue prior to the updating my device.

I sent mine in for repair (replacing both screen and battery) and they did a stellar job. It was costly, but I think it was worth it. It seems easy enough to open and replace the screen (provided you have prior experience), but I found looking on Aliexpress the sellers did not make me confident. For example the description says onyx and the image is likebook.

If anyone else is experiencing battery issues with the new update.

I see several possibilities on Aliexpress. What I am wondering is whether there are some kind of instructions as to how to open my Nova and do the battery replacement.

Any thoughts? Thanks!
