So far so good.

The initial update installed 4.30.18838, so no need to downgrade the firmware.

Happy with the case. Easy to install and remove. Cover does lie flat against back when fully open. There are only 15 reviews for this case on Amazon. Maybe it's a new version?

Cross-posted last message.

The fold-over hinge does stick out. But that is going to happen if you line up the cover with the back. If I pull the hinge tight I can make the hinge flush, but then the cover sticks out on the right.

Either way, the cover itself does seem to lie flat against the back. I did need to flatten the hinge a bit to break it in.

I’d be surprised if it was new, I’m probably more sensitive or more demanding. Glad it’s working for you though.

I will say that compared to the kmobile case I had on the old reader, the hinge on the fintie has a lot of slack in it. Even when fully closed, it sticks out.

But if this is the one where front flap doesn't lay flat against the back as MGlitch mentioned, I'll probably return it.
That's a good option. I think this a new (3rd) line by Fintie — I've never seen anything like this for other readers. I like that it covers the corners and it looks easy to install and remove.

I've had issues with SlimShells (not just from Fintie). I don't know why, I don't feel like I treat them badly.

You're right, it is "fatter." I don't mind the "fat" feel — I like that these protect. But I also understand preferences are different. I always worry about readers in the SlimShells. The protection doesn't seem adequate. I have the same basic cover on the Tolino Shine 3 and Clara, as well as the Glowlight 3.

I think I posted this before. These are all the Fintie Slim Shells I've purchased (except for the 6" Aura, which I gave away with the reader). All still functioning as expected. A couple show wear because they are years old (the Nook on the top is four years old and is around water, the 10" tablet in the middle is 6+ years old). That's why I'm so quick to recommend them.

Fintie SlimShells must like you. I think I still have about four or five of them with broken corners — and one with the clasp magnet broken out. They just kind of "crumble." (Not all Finties, but all "SlimShells.")

My experience has been the same with Fintie SlimShells, for both ereaders and tablets. The corners on all of them deteriorated/crumbled in a matter of months. I will not purchase them again. Actually, I much prefer the quality and design of Kobo's covers.

I've never had any cover wear out EXCEPT Fintie. The kwmobile I have on my H2O is just over 4 years old and has lasted quite well.

Maybe I'm over reacting, but I wanted something with some padding on the sides/corners.

If the Fintie doesn't work out, I might try the E NET-CASE. But I will never use the case as a stand for the reader, so I was trying to avoid the origami variations.
I have one of the Kobo covers that I got off of Amazon. It is origami, but I don't use it as a stand and the lines are not a bother.
