Yes. Without at least one mod around there's no way to guarantee that the llounge will be utter chaos.

I'm not sure pshrynkie's really back -- he might have just snuck a quick visit here. Wasn't it just 2 days ago that he announced he was going away? Or was it the previous Friday? Really??

Sleep -- yes, I have a long-standing addiction to the stuff. Have tried to kick the habit, but it is a very strong addiction. I like staying awake for lots of hours - reading, etc -- but then getting the amount of sleep required by my addiction tends to put 26 or 28 hours into each day. This yields a body schedule not in-synch with the sun or the rest of the world. Annoyingly, this creates problems. So I struggle. Sigh.

cassidym, it is possible that I am most disappointed in you for sleeping. I have long admired you for consistently welcoming newbies who post in the Intoductions forum. I have often wondered if you were officially assigned to the position of MR welcomer, or if this is something you lovingly volunteered for. In any case, you are always there with a warm welcome--except when you sleep. Imagine a newbie posting his or her very first post from some asynchronous time zone, looking for some MR validation, and getting no immediate response. That must be devastating.

however, like most members despite my valiant efforts i do eventually succomb as morpheus can be quite irresistible when he puts his mind to it. i also make it a point never ever to be awake at 8:06 in the morning if i can at all avoid it. everyone knows that getting up that early is very bad for your health and can in fact prove fatal to those unprepared by a long and grueling preparatory training. i've had some very near misses personally. and trust me, you'd much rather live without me for a few hours while i sleep than have a sleep-deprived zelda to deal with 24 hours a day.

i would agree with you that things are unusually quiet around here lately however, but i blame the holidays. christmas is infamous for disrupting the natural flow of things in a thoroughly artificial way and my only suggestion to you is to grit your teeth and wait it out. soon pshrynk will be back from his holidays, dreamer will also return to her place here, and all the other usual suspects will return to their normal activities for your interactively absurd enjoyment. you can do your part by not logging off at all until then, because i must agree, only 12 members on line is frankly sad.
