As a person who formats ebooks myself on BD,I can say on Sony LRF files, the margins can be set manually anywhere from 0 to .what.. 55pt?

It becomes obvious that books with a too small margin are less pleasant to read.
Also books with a larger margin (like Sony Store LRF books),read more pleasant, but take more pageswaps, and hold only very little data (text) per page.

Generally people set a margin ranging from 10 to 25pt, which is about the same margin as 4 to 7 letters: (on average the size of the margin):
10
15pt
20 pt

Not that large...

Sony store uses something like 25- 35pt? (anyone knows?)

I generally set a margin of 10 pixels all around on the Sony books that I create.

I put 10px left and right, and 0px for top and bottom. For whatever reason, putting 10px all around makes the top and bottom margins twice as big as those on the sides.

I use 25 left and right, and 18 on the top.

Valloric, the reason the margins on the top or bottom are larger has to do with your setting of "make header/footer".

I disabled header (book title), but enabled footer(chapter name).
that's why the top gets 18 for me,and the bottom '0' to even out.

I use footers, so I have all 10 except bottom, which is 0.
