For what it's worth, one of my co-workers bought herself a PW5 as an early Christmas present. She asked me about freezing on a page since it is happening to her on a regular basis. She decided to exchange her PW5 for a new one after my assurances that freezing is not normal for any ereader so trying a replacement device was a good idea.

Since I made the thread I’ve heard about three other people this is happening to. I’m guessing this is something that could be fixed in future updates, but since I paid a pretty penny for it, I shouldn’t have to wait. I’ll return it this week just in case this is only happening to a small number of devices.

I don’t think many people are having this issue with regularity; at least I’m not. So it could be a hardware issue, or it could be something a Restart would fix.

And had I read (or re-read) your previous post before responding to your latest, I would have understood you were not talking about the page number changing by 2 with a single page turn (as it will often do), and I probably would not have posted anything at all.

I have no ideas about the screen freeze, apart from the experience I’ve had a number of times following an update, where it triggers re-indexing and the Kindle can become unresponsive. My PW5 has only a handful of books on it at the moment and so when it updated, I didn’t experience any performance degradation. Or maybe it is just FAST!
I am thinking, and could be completely wrong, that some of the brand new devices are touch sensitive at first but it slows down after some use. This may be completely wrong thinking on my part, so take it with a grain of salt. All I know is after I kept using it, it fixed and slightly slowed down and resolved itself

I hate returning devices unless I absolutely have to, so it could have also just been a glitchy device that an update fixed.

I hope you're right and that the problem goes away. I can avoid the problem by swiping rather than touching, but it doesn't feel normal to do that and sometimes I touch without thinking.

I share your dislike of returning devices, and especially this one, which is otherwise the best e-reader I've ever owned, and that's saying a lot because I've owned a lot of them. Especially nice is the long-lived battery.

I’ve also noticed the 2 pages thingy. For me it only happens when I touch the screen, not when I swipe, which luckily is what comes natural most of the time.
I restored the PW to factory settings on Saturday morning, and it hasn’t frozen again, so hopefully that fixed the problem. I will give it a few more days before I decide whether I need to return it or not. I really want to avoid it.
