I have two 6 inch readers, two 7 inch readers and an 8 inch. The 8 inch is by far my favourite. I could go back to a 7 inch as my main reader if I had to. The 6 inch readers are only for when out and about as they fit in my handbag. A large screen is so much easier and better to read on.

8" sounds like an interesting size for me! Would you tell me what reader that is, how much it weighs and how thick it is?

Looking at @Josiev1's device list, the 8" ereader is a Kobo Forma. The dimensions are 160 x 177.7 x 4.2 - 8.5 mm (the thickness is not consistent across the device), the weight is 197g.

In my experience the best cure is lighting. I can read a PDF on a small screen if I use light, but I wouldn't have to use the light if I were reading a (K)Epub.

Depends on the eyes. I can't read microscopical font comfortably with any lighting. My eyes start to hurt in less than a minute. And I always use the light, no matter the format. Can't read without that.

Well, everyone is different and so are their eyes.

Thanks for the details @DNSB & @Josieb1! I’ll certainly investigate in this.
Are you happy with this device? (Mainly for EPUB2 & EPUB3)

The Forma is 3 years old by now. The Sage, which was released a month or so ago, also has a 8'' screen. It's heavier, though.

Just think of the extra 1.5oz as aerobic exercise.

Why go for the PW5 when you have a better Oasis 3?

I have an O3. I like it a lot but it is a stupid shape. Everyone knows books are taller than wide. The PW is properly proportioned. It will be able to fit into a jacket or cargo pants pocket where the O3 does not. With the updates and upgrades to the new PW I'm not sure the O3 is that much better anymore, not like it was over the PW4 I traded in.

I was very happy with my Forma though I am now using the Sage. The same layout and 8" screen. The screen is a newer generation with a (to me) noticeably better display. OTOH, the Sage does not have the Forma's Mobius screen so a bit heavier and it's 4 core CPU does eat up the battery when I'm playing with the stylus.

I know you don't want to return to Kobo but I have the Oasis 2 & 3 and the Kobo Forma. The Oasis is a better build, faster & just reeks of higher quality. I use the Forma 90% of the time, the 8" screen vs the 7" screen is the deciding factor.

I’m the same. The Oasis 3 is a much better build, and is a quality device, but I prefer reading on my Forma. I keep different genres of books on my three main e-readers, the Forma, Libra H20 and Oasis 3 so my reading is governed by the actual book I am reading but the Forma is my favourite device.
