It’s not timed out for my Forma yet after 11+ minutes connected to my iMac. Though I had thought you were right about it eventually dismissing, perhaps it was in a previous firmware.

But I’d be surprised if the OP missed the screen dialogue assuming we’re both mistaken about the time out.

ETA as if to mock me the Forma just went to sleep, thus dismissing the message. So maybe if the OP has the sleep setting low, though by default the minimum is 5 minutes and that’s a bit long to not notice the dialogue.

I don't think so. It has definitely shown for a while here. But, it might go away if the device sleeps when connected. It escapes me right now whether it is still there when the device is woken.

I can confirm it both goes away on sleep when connected and does not return when the device is woken up.

I haven't been able to get this prompt at all, and my sleep setting isn't low. I don't think the problem is the socket, because when it's plugged in, the device does charge as normal, and my computer makes a noise indicating something is plugged into a port, but nothing happens from there.

Unfortunately, it is possible to for the USB port to be damaged in a way that the device will charge, but the data connection is not made. There are people here with exactly that issue who have resorted to using the browser to add books to the device.

I'm not sure what to make of the fact that the PC makes a noise. Mine doesn't make a sound until after I tap the connect button. But, it is possible I have turned a notification at some point.

I don't know what to suggest at this point. If you have tried all the normal things, rebooting PC and device, different cables, different USB ports, etc, then the next thing is another PC. If connects there successfully, then it is probably something about your PC. If it doesn't connect, then it is probably the device.

Yeah, I think that happened to me when I closed the sleep cover and that is why I was thinking it timed out.

What about installing NickelMenu (if possible) to see if forcing a USB connection might work?
