No. Keep in mind that the Elipsa is not a tablet. The response of the keyboard I tested was limited to typing in the search fields and only after I physically positioned the cursor (finger or stylus). I did not conduct an extensive test since it is a beta feature and I have no interest in using a keyboard -- I use my Android tablet and phone for that purpose.

Bug for audio, BT or both? It clearly connects to the audio devices I listed in the first post and many more. Further, the connection was confirmed via automated voice built in to some of my devices. Interestingly, every device discovered/listed was preceded by "audio_card" (including the smart tv).

My testing of the text input was minimal because I did not expect it to apply to a feature designed specifically for the stylus (notebook), which was confirmed.

As I later cautioned, if experimenting, be sure to tap "Turn off" several times as there is no indication of the on/off status. Otherwise, one may find the battery depleted overnight.

Bug for whatever you were trying to use the keyboard with.

And that is probably largely OS level support. It might actually be harder to prevent it than to just let it sit there using a few resource. It doesn't matter much as there is no way to use it. There are no audio applications in the firmware. And having this, does let Kobo add an audio application at some time in the future. But, I think it is more likely to happen in another device than be added to the Elipsa.

Does the note taking app work with the on-screen keyboard? All the demos I've seen have been using the stylus.

The software is basically the same as Nebo (I have it on my Android phone and tablet). But on the Android version there is an icon for keyboard and another for stylus.

If there is no way to use the onscreen keyboard it makes sense the bluetooth one doesn't work either.

Hopefully they'll add the functionality since not only would it make sense to have it work with notebooks but it would be beyond useful for some people.

I missed your post. If that is the case, it's certainly encouraging. Only one keyboard was used during my experimentation but now I might investigate further with others.

Finally got my Elipsa yesterday. I am really enjoying it, but woke up this morning to 0% battery, then I remembered:
I searched for bluetooth devices yesterday.
I did not even think to turn bluetooth off.

I havent yet found any indication that bluetooth is on or off, has anyone else?

Any idea whether the Bluetooth chip supports Bluetooth Low Energy, or even what version of Bluetooth the chip supports? On the software side, I think Bluetooth LE would require Linux 3.4 and BlueZ 5.0.

In this thread I specifically mentioned this:

Yes, it supports Bluetooth Low Energy. No idea about the versions, but I know that BLE keyboards were tested and are supported.

A video I found on YouTube shows skipping pages on the Elipsa with a Logitech R500 remote controller:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MilzHy4Equw

I don't speak Chinese, but from using Google Translate, apparently no patch was needed to get the R500 to do this. So this is completely stock.

Woops. Just noticed that I didn't include remote controls in my comment above. Not sure why, because as part of the discussion I had, I joked about using one while keeping the hands warm under the covers in bed. But, I had been told that BLE remote controls had been tested to make sure they worked to turn the page.

Hmm, I wonder if I can use this to justify getting an Elipsa in the house. My wife would love to keep her hands warm. And I'd love for her not to defrost those icicles she calls hands on me.

Logitech R500 turn presentation page by sending signal for left and right arrow key.

Wonder why it does not work for bluetooth keyboards..

Elipsa + Bluetooth = it works

On a guess, I'd say the keyboard is sending "left" or "right" signals, and the R500 is sending "next" or "previous" signals. Whatever the code, the R500 is intended for presentation navigation, which the Elipsa seems designed to take advantage of.

For fun, I managed to connect my Elipsa to my iPhone, but there wasn’t anything I could do with the connection. I had hoped some of the presentation remote apps I had downloaded would work, but they all required propriety software on a Mac. None were generic Bluetooth presentation apps. Strangely, after I connected once, I could never pair them again.

I will play around with the keyboard next. Thanks for the warning on the need to shut Bluetooth off. I haven’t run into any battery drains.

The keybindings can be patched.
