Thanks, Richard. I was going to contact Sony, as well, but I will reign in my frustration.

If you got to Sony's Ebook site, you might also notice that Random house is giving away 9 free ebooks, with titles apparently intended to get you to like the authors. I am not promoting the books and have not as yet read them but....free is free. Thought you would like to know.

I was given another member's code and tried it. The codes are not linked to a particular member, which means that if you are able to find someone who is not using their code, you can use it along with the code you were sent, and thus obtain more than one discount. However, it appears that each must be a separate transaction.

In addition, I found out that the BOGOF code is a little deceptive by its title. Sony is literally limiting the purchase to 1 book and 1 free book, so if you want to buy 4 books, you get 1 free and pay for the other 3. In addition, if 3 of the books cost $8 and the 4th book costs $12, you get 1 of the $8 books free.

I thought the same but have discovered that the BOGOF works only on 1 book. I'm not sure if either is a better deal.

I'm not suprised.

BOGOF still would have been better for me, since I was planning on buying more than one book. So I saved like $3 instead of $6.

If I had the BOGOF offer though, I would have had to split my order up and buy all the $6 books I wanted, and get one of those free, then make another transaction for the cheaper books. The 50% off came off the most expensive book automatically, which was nice.

In case no one knew, you can add your code to your account now, even if you don't buy anything (still expires at the end of the month though). Just go to My Account, click redeem coupons, and enter in the code. It'll save it for when you make a purchase.

I guess this offer would not be too useful to Sony users outside of the US/Canada but then again we could always buy 1 free ebook and get another free

Apparently some people are having problems using the BOGOF code and Sony has announced a fix. Here are the details

We apologize to those of you who have experienced some technical difficulties when trying to use your Buy One, Get One Free holiday gift code. We have traced the problem to those customers who have the "Buy Now" feature enabled on their eBook Store account and do not use the "Shopping Cart" feature. If you have had no problem using your code or know that you do not have this feature enabled, please disregard this e-mail.

While we work on remedying this issue so that it does not happen in future promotions, please follow the directions below to disable your "Buy Now" feature and use your Buy One, Get One Free holiday gift code in the "Shopping Cart."

How To Disable Your "Buy Now" Feature*:

Launch the eBook Library Software and Click on "eBook Store"
Select "My account"
In the "Billing Information" section, Select "Change Purchase Settings"
If the "Enable the Buy Now feature" box is checked, Click to uncheck
Select "Submit" to save any changes
How To Complete Your Purchase:

Choose your desired eBooks and Select "Add to Cart" for each
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have not already, you must Select "Redeem a New Gift Code" and Enter your Buy One, Get One Free code before you select "Proceed to Checkout"
Select "Proceed to Checkout" to complete your purchase
