I have a small collection of what I refer to as, "Ebooks" please let me know if that's the wrong title. Ican read them on my Desk top Computer but would like to be mobile so I'm looking for a mobile, carry it in my pocket reader.

What format are they in? If they are PDF, then no pocketable reader will give you a satisfying reading experience with them.

That's called a smart phone. If you already have one, then use that as it is pocketable. eInk really isn't pocketable.

Checking on his post history, there is unfortunately a degree of not understanding the everyday aspects of using a computer and ebook reader.
If he comes back - AND SUPPLIES SPECIFIC DETAILS - let's all chip in and try to help this person. ![]() |

Many thanks for your answers and I hope my reply will give an idea of what I'm after which is something of about half an A4 page that I can move ebooks from my computer to and can be charged up from a vehicle cigar lighter.
Sirtel. What format are they in? The icons I have on my bottom line are. Kindle. Mobi file reader. JSWolf How do I use a smart phone for the purpose of reading an Ebook? And what is meant by “eInk”? Uncle Robin What are “Aura H202 to a Libra.”? Dr. Drib Checking on his post history, there is unfortunately a degree of not understanding the everyday aspects of using a computer and ebook reader. Rather an assumption as I do have a rough idea on how to use a computer but your absolutely right in that I know nothing of ebook readers although I do use a Smart Phone and my wife uses a Tablet which I also know nothing of or even if one can load applications that allow it to be used to read ebooks. ApK If you are referring to the OP, then to me the post history smacks of someone who is seeding a post count to infiltrate the forum for ulterior motives, like spam or self-promotion. But, heck, I'm probably just curmudgeonly, cynical and paranoid. Yes, I would agree to curmudgeonly, cynical and paranoid. |

BrickyBrian, just to be clear, I was not referring to you. You are NOT the OP (original poster) on this thread.
If Dr. D. WAS referring to you, then I agree that some assistance with foundational knowledge and terminology might help you find out what you want to know most efficiently. It would let you ask questions more clearly and better understand the answers. And many folks here are happy to help. Even some of the curmudgeons! If you ask, I'm sure folks will point you to the many, many existing comprehensive threads on introductory topics like "What is E-Ink" and "What apps can read ebooks on a phone or tablet" or, even better, help you learn to use the forum search feature to find them yourself. Along those lines, are you aware of the "quote" feature when replying to messages here? Look for this icon on the toolbar: ![]() It would help make your posts more readable. If your ebooks are in the kindle format, then get a Kindle (for example, a Paperwhite). That would be the simplest solution for you. Else you'd have to learn about format shifting and possibly about DRM removal.

Just got the Kindle Kids Edition on Prime Day, as our bunch of Kindle Keyboards are wearing out. The reading experience, so far, with a side-loaded eBook, is excellent. The 2 year warranty, and the case, for $10 over the adult model price, was definitely worth it. My wife and I were always wary of ones without page turn switches, but the touch screen has obviously improved in the last seven years.
A quick google search fails to find anything on how repairable this model is, and I never recommend anything that can’t be repaired. But since my last attempt to merge three broken Kindle Keyboards, into one that worked, was an utter failure, I may have to give up on that way of thinking. If you see an old guy on the Philadelphia subway, with the kiddie birds-cover Kindle, it could be me. |

You aren't the only one like that. That's why I'll ask about where someone got his/her eBooks when it feels like it's possible they are not legal eBooks that help is being asked about.

If you are not tied to Amazon, I recommend a Kobo Libra H2O or a Kobo Forma. Much nicer firmware with many more options/features.
