As for a 5 gram weight saving, I'm not sure that's an issue. J/k: I know the Forma has a larger screen. But I think that larger screen would mean it was no longer pocketable in jacket.
It was more about how much it reduced the weight of the larger device. It is a noticeably bigger devices, but, hardly weighs more than the Libra H2O. For comparison, the 7.8" Aura ONE weighed 230g.

Difference was €120 here maybe near Christmas 2019. My 10" Lenovo was €117 end December 2019. It's excellent and now superseded by a newer one maybe €150 now. The higher resolutions only worth while on 12" approx or larger.

The 7.8" Boyue Likebook Mars is about €50 cheaper than a Forma here, but the Libra is better for decently formatted ebooks and for proofreading/ narration source due to page buttons and Calibre Kobo Utilities to import annotations.
The stock PDF reader in the Likebook Mars is excellent, but the epub reader poor, so I installed koreader on it. The Libraries where closed here for nearly 5 months and Borrowbox on the Mars was handy (the local library doesn't use Overdrive and using ADE with web download is too much bother).

my first reader many years ago was a refurbished sony prs 300 (i think that was the one) it was pink and i am sometimes v girlie lol so it did me.

When it was on the way out i was debating kindle or kobo (am in the uk) and at the time the only way to use ebooks from public library was via kobo/epub so that swung it as i like to support the PL where i can. I have been a kobo owner (on third one now only upgraded due to light, then comfort light pro and waterproof) and never looked back

Thank you all for your responses. They've been very informative and helped finalize the decision. It seems that the Libra H20 will work for my needs. I've ordered it and a cover and it will be arriving within the week. Then I will give it to my wife, who will wrap it so she can give it to me for my birthday shortly after that. I guess I'll have more questions for the group after that.
