I agree Kindle font sizes without the hack are pretty poor. But then I patched Kobo font sizes also, I couldn't find that really satisfying size otherwise. From my experience with my unpatched Libra I recall huge gaps at the bottom of the page when reading epubs (widows/orphans and also I think there was a bottom padding with epubs). Patching and modifying the css took care of those issues. Plus the lack of bolding options for custom fonts, again fixed with a patch. As to Kindle line spacing and margins, I'm fine with those. I don't like ultra narrow margins and line-heights. Of course everyone has their preferences, likes and dislikes. I'm not saying my opinion is some universal truth. |

But if you do like it, then that's good. I can sort of deal by using KF8 with negative margins and ChareInk which makes the line height smaller. With KFX, the negative margins work, but ChareInk will not work to reduce the line height. I can try other things with the font metadata and see if that works with KFX.

Uhm... now for someone that wants something pretty much set out of the box.. and that just wants to pick up and read and not even be thinking about the device... is all that patching etc something that I would be needing to go into? BTW, the Kindle is out, I can't order it. Portugal is under the umbrela of Amazon Spain but they won't sell it outside of Spain, so there . |

Wow. That's.... an odd decision by Amazon. I'll leave recommendations of non-Kindle to others, as I've been Kindle-only for some time.

I used a mail forwarder when I bought my Oasis, as Amazon didn't sell it to my country either. But Kobo readers are perfectly usable out of the box and most people use them without any modifications. It's just that many MR members like to tinker and are far more demanding than an average user. |

Ah, that's actually possible, they would ship it to me. Gets very expensive though, with import duties and all. Quote:
I'm think I'm set on the Kobo anyway, I'll just pop on my local Fnac and get one. Maybe they'll me see the diference between Libra and Forma if I really beg

Oh, guys? Just stumbled upon the Pocketbook Inkpad 3 Pro. Big screen, not wide as the Forma, slightly less expensive than the Forma, dual core processor, waterproof etc. Any caveats on these?

There is one major difference. The Inkpad 3 Pro uses a glass based screen and the Forma uses a plastic backed screen. This means that there is much less chance of breaking the screen on the Forma.

When ordering from Amazon I check Amazon UK & Amazon Spain 80% of the time it's cheaper to order from Amazon Spain and as I'm only 10 min from the border.
