Kobo/iOS issues - Hotspot doesn’t connect, neither does Files.

It seems like you got things worked out, but I have to admit that using the Personal Hotspot with my Clara HD has become frustrating under iOS 14. I just tested it now, and it failed again. However, a second attempt succeeded.

I find I have to keep the iPhone on the Personal Hotspot page to guarantee a connection. For years, unless I do this, the connection fails with my iPad or gaming devices. I finally connected tonight with my Clara HD and bought an ebook, but the WiFi icon shows ONE bar although the iPhone and Clara are next to each other. There is clearly an incompatibility here. Still, the connection seemed zippy enough.

Regarding lower band compatibility, the Kobo doesn’t see 5 GHz WiFi networks. I’ve got an older router on a subnet downstairs that broadcasts 5 & 2.4 GHz bands on separate channels, unlike my Netgear Nighthawk WiFi 6 router upstairs which combines them and smartly handshakes. The Kobo can see the 2.4 GHz network, but never the dedicated 5 GHz one. This isn’t surprising since the Kobo only supports 2.4 GHz connections.
