So i have installed Optimize:Legibility patch to add kerning and ligatures, but it caused even worse word spacing, so i have returned to reading epubs. Last edited by Krios; 03-19-2021 at 03:41 PM. |

I had to search ligatures, so I could know what they are talking about, so you can guess...

As i said in previous post, lack of ligatures is not a dealbreaker, i could live without them, but lack of kerning and worse word spacing in kepubs makes my eyes bleed.

You can enable kerning with KePub. In the KoboTouchExtended drive configuration under the extended tab. Select "Enable Extended Kobo Features" You can also turn on hyphenation in the same section.

Thanks, it worked with some fonts, it didn't with sideloaded ones, which i use in most cases (Bitter, Literata Book and Garamond Absinthe), word spacing is still better in epubs, so i will stick with them.

If I am correct, it used to be that to get kerning with KePub, the font needs to have legacy kerning enabled in the font. I don't know if that is still true or not.

A "killer-feature" would be an option to turn off the damn different font sizes for epub and kepub books.

![]() But honestly, the absolute killer-function would be an affordable e-reader. I can buy for about 199€ a 10.3" 64Gb LCD tablet (Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus (2nd Gen)) which will support as much as colors as I want. Why should I, for instance, ever buy just a 7.8" 32Gb e-Ink (water)color (ONYX Boox Nova 3 Color) for about 419€? Seeing the price tags on the latest new e-readers, I fear that the next forthcoming Kobo will be in the same league, even without an e-Ink color screen. |
