As far as I am aware, K2PDFOPT is a Windows/MacOS offering. The latest version on a M1 Mac is fast.

k2pdfopt is also available from the author for x86 linux and there is a k2pdfopt package for the raspberry pi. It is also open source, but I have no idea whether it has been build for additional platforms.

May be fast on an M1 Mac, but the M1 Mac is going to be dead before too long because of the design of the M1 chip/memory/cache. It wears out the SSD much faster then it should. It's a disaster of a design.

That is a software and/or OS problem that has nothing to do with the CPU.

Just disable swap until the bug gets fixed.

My Likebook Ares problem is likely to be in standby.
And the PW4 is more economical in power consumption than the Kobos.

- if the problem you mention is that bad,
- if it's a hardware or software issue

Nope. I've been doing it in linux for many years.
