If the PDFs were created with Word, and you have a recent version of Word try opening the PDF itself in Word and saving as DOCX, the results can be surprisingly good.

I am attaching a sample of a PDF that I opened in Word 365, saved as DOCX, and converted that to EPUB with calibre factory settings.

That looks very promising, BetterRed. My version of word is pretty old, having changed over to libre office and open office but I'm sure I have someone who can do this conversion for me. Thanks for the tip!

Maybe recent LO Writer has something similar, like your version of Word my version of Writer is ancient - from the days the Sun still shone
