Perhaps a few examples there would help. Noted for a future tip in the wiki page. There's probably been more than one discussion of those we can pull examples from.

I do not know How Much work is involved setting pages up but a simple categorization should work. But I am speaking from a position of sublime ignorance. ![]() A pop level page page would list areas of Calibre for which tips exist (e.g. Editor, plugboard etc) Each area could link to subpage which either lists the tips for that area or takes you to the only tip for that area. Each item in the list of tips could link to a specific tip. But any suggestions from someone with more knowledge of Wikis than me (not hard) would be welcome. Otherwise you may be right and it may be better to delay the wiki until we have a few tips. We could use this thread to start collecting them as you suggested. Or we could start "Post your Calibre Tips & Tricks here" thread. Last edited by Thasaidon; 11-15-2020 at 08:27 PM. Reason: typo |

No point in making subpages that don't already exist until the page gets big enough to need that.
It makes sense to me to organize them by calibre areas. I think just making a heading for each area, as we get a tip for it makes sense. When there's too many (say 10-20?) under a heading or the entire page is huge, then we can split. As to delaying -- I don't think we need to delay, but I'm not gonna make a wiki page for two tips. ![]() |

My pet peeve with the Forum style tricks, is you need to wade thru it all, to find the one you need.
Tips and tricks really needs to be broken down (or linked) by Calibre Version . Things we did in 1.x became part of later releases (or not needed). Things in 5.x are not available to folk stuck at 1.x, 2.x 3.x because of OS or old hardware issues. In a few cases, there are OS tricks that are not needed (or applicable) in the others and cause no end of confusion. |

Right I think we are mostly in agreement and have covered many of the issues found in other Tips and Tricks threads.. Lets get the ball rolling. I have a couple of tips and post them in a new "Post your Tips and Tricks Here" thread when I have done so. Unless someone beats me to it. ![]() |

Splitting by OS makes a lot of sense. Hopefully the tricks that cover all operating systems would be larger.
![]() Splitting by calibre version doesn't make sense to me and may not even be possible retroactively. But I think lableing every trick we know is version specific (e.g., version 4.x and hgiher) is a good idea. Splitting by calibre functional area makes sense to me, although it's not clear yet what those divisions are beyond editor, reader, etc. |

I have never added to a wiki and am not familiar with contributing. I submitted a tip 'quickly view stylesheet in calibre editor' under 'calibre editor' to see if I did it right. If it is wrong I would appreciate feedback. Best regards, Pop

Tip: On Kobo devices, add all non-sideloaded books to a "Kobo Store" collection. This way you won't accidentally delete it in Calibre and have to repair your account.
Or just sideload everything. That works too. |

Calibre uses title/author for the [s]Google Image Search[/s] Search the Internet plugin, so if you're getting covers for the wrong edition (or wildly irrelevant images), try pasting the ISBN into Google Image Search. You can use this if you want to try both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13.
EDIT: I can't strikeout? Last edited by ownedbycats; 11-24-2020 at 08:58 PM. |

You could use the Search the Internet Plugin and choose one of the image searches.

The Search the Internet plugin is what got me the weird covers to begin with.
