You replied: "you can't".
Then you replied to geek: "Yes, that can be done. But, ... I'd prefer to offer suggestions like that once I know why people ... "
So you lied to my question thinking that I should be the one to explain why I asked it.
You didn't joke, you lied.
You are not the one who is "actually trying to answer" my question. You knew the answer and, being able to shut up, you preferred to write to lie.
For me the question ends here.
Again wow.

Firstly, the small joke was in the first line of my response. You know the bit were I commented about needing to be connected to the internet to download those files. Because, if you can't connect to the internet, which apparently you can't or you wouldn't have asked the question, you won't be able to download the files. I mean you did say "without being connected to the internet". It was a terrible joke, but, it was a joke. I nearly made the joke in my response to you, but, that clearly would have been a bad idea.

And yes, my first responses to questions are not "lets hack the device". My first response to questions are to work with the device or supporting applications to do something. There are lots of questions that I will answer in one of those ways, but, they are commonly repeated questions and I know where to point to.

And if you had asked the question differently, you might have gotten a different answer. A statement as to why you needed to do this might have prompted me to look for (in this case dig through my memory) for an alternative. And as I have stated, letting the device do this is extremely simple. So I do get curious about why people don't want to. Broken network, or conspiracy nut? Or something else?

Anyway, you do have a solution, so I hope you will be happy wasting your time on it.

Why lie? Just say "Before I answer you I want to know why you want to do this." Sure, it feels stupid to say such a sentence, but at least it's a sincere attitude.

Say it clearly: "I want to see the invoice of the shop where you bought the device."

Now, please, answer another question. On which website, other than this, can I find normal assistance for the use of a device without being forced to deal with people who have lost touch with reality?

ps1: Kobo distributes the "desktop application" for windows and mac only, while I only use linux pc, and for mysterious reasons, that certainly hide a criminal attitude, I don't want to use wine.

ps2: You're an idiot.
Now this is what's wrong with the internet and social media nowadays, I think. People go berserk and make fools of themselves and the only thing they should do is apologise, but they are just unable to see that they did anything wrong.

You do have a point there, but note that in the past when that kind of response has been made, the thread details into a long debate about whether syncing is bad or good.

@davidfor is many things, and an idiot is not one of them. Sometimes, he makes mistakes like everyone else.
