I checked and that fix from Qt 5.9.2 for that issue is still in Qt 5.12.x. The entire codebase was reworked for Qt5.15.x so they may show something different.

Yeah, I couldn't recreate the issue on a physical Windows machine by forcing software rendering, either. So it's likely the virtualbox bug after all. Disabling the 3D rendering is an easy enough workaround, though. So I'm probably not going to chase it much farther.
