I could never use mine without a case because it's way too slippery in my hands. However! - my Noreve case (expensive) works wonders and also fully protects the unit. As well, it gives me additional holding power, when folded back, due to the soft front part of the case.

I love the shape. Have loved it since the Oasis 1 was released in 2016. Sold my Voyage last week because it was sitting unused on the shelf. I just couldn't read on it anymore, it was so unergonomic for me. I prefer my Oases and my Libra to the regularly-shaped ereaders any day. And it appears I'm not the only one, as Kobo has copied the design from Amazon and now uses it for its own premium readers. But yes, as with any other invention there are people who find it not to their taste and unfortunately you're one of them. Perhaps you should get a new Paperwhite or a Kobo Clara instead?

I don't find it slippery, really. It's just the size of my hand or the length of my fingers, how bony my hands are, or something, but the damned right-side heel digs into the palm of my hand, when I try to hold it one-handed, which is how I always read digitally. Hell, for that matter, it's how I generally hold ppbks. (Altho, no, not to the break-the-spine point).

Can't explain it, but I've hated it since I got it and still do. I use it daily, mind you, so I've given it plenty of time to grow on me. Same with the Fire 10". It's just the wrong damn size. Too big, too clunky. (FWIW, I'm WILDLY underwhelmed with the Boox 10" too.)

I bought the Oasis before I bought the Forma. When I bought the Oasis I was happy with the larger screen. I didn't realize what I was missing until I got the Forma; much better form factor for holding, and the internal firmware/software is light years ahead of the Kindle.

Well, that's subjective. I too have both the Oasis and the Libra, but IMO the form factor is much the same, and I wouldn't say the software is light years ahead. YMMV.

My previous Kindle was an ancient and venerable Kindle Touch. It still works and holds a charge. I was amazed when I started using the Oasis that the UI, what you can do, is essentially exactly the same as the Kindle Touch. After all those years. Sheesh.

Sorry. I was referring to your post #13, about the corner digging into your hands. I experienced the same thing, but the Noreve case ended that issue for me.

I do agree with Sirtel, however, in that (for me) I love my Oasis 3.

Hmph. As much as I'd like to try the Forma (Kobo), from the other recommendations, I do need to justify the expense, which I can write-off to the biz (obviously), and that kind of pushes me in the Kindle direction. We have two other Kobos, here, for testing. I need to have some reasonable explanation of WHY I need a device for testing and the last time I had to explain to the IRS, they seemed to think that two Kobos (being Canadian, eh?) was excessive of me.

("Do you REALLY need all these devices for testing? What about these Canadian devices? Why do you have those?" Ugh. For a business with nearly zero write-offs in the first place, zero entertainment or travel, etc., you'd think that they would not care about a few hundred clams, right? Wrong.)

FYI, my Oasis IS a 3. Bummer.
