It's instant page turn on every real pdf on Kobo and even the 10 year old Kindle Keyboard / KK3 with a publisher font / KF8 option. I have a very good Android 10" tablet and it's no better on real ebooks, but good on A4 size full colour PDFs, though slower than ebooks. I have a three year old 7" Android and it's SLOWER than the ven the 10 year old Kindle Keyboard / KK3 with a publisher font / KF8 option. The Kobo Libra is much faster on PDFs than even the Original H2O, but not all are suitable for a 7" screen. The A5 size and similar PDF operating manuals are a good bit slower than an epub, but not even one second on the Libra. About 1s on the H2O, which isn't as good resolution for a PDF anyway. I did have an ancient Kobo Touch for a while and it too was fine on real ebooks, proper reflowable epub2. |

I'm looking hard at the Galaxy tab A 8.4 Anyone have it, if so, what do you think of it and what is it's actual screen dimensions (not the tablet dimensions)?

I'm surprised that the screen size on the 8.4 at 7.13" x 4.46" is larger than the ipad mini at 6.3" x 4.7"! Last edited by peaceridge; 11-04-2020 at 04:05 PM. |

ernieh, I know lots of people have problems with their eyes reading on lcd screens. I'm not one of them. I worked in the computer industry many years, spent most of the day looking at screens and never had eye problems. Currently I'm on my computer or reading with lcd screens probably 8 hours a day with no eye strain. I understand there is some sort of colored lenses now recommended for people that have such problems.

Thought I'd try ereaders again, since several of you have disputed my saying they were slow. I just tried my Kobo Aura one - NO just no. I even looked at the Paperwhite - as far as I can tell you can't set the left margin to go forward, so it is a no Possibly one of the newer ereaders might be fast enough, but none of the wikis actually show what a reading page looks like. I'm not going to buy ereaders just in case their software might work for me. If I only read occasionally any probably would be good enough. But with covid, I read most of the day and want what I want, which is probably not what the majority of people want, thus my dilemma.

Here's another option for you!
Besides this, I used to have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 with an 8.4 inch display. If you can find a used one in good condition, that would be an excellent choice. |

I just recently got the Lenovo M8 HD Tablet. It's an 8" tablet. I really like it a lot. Has fantastic battery life, Android 9, and works great right out of the box. I think this form factor is my favorite of the tablet size. I also have an Ipad Pro 11, and I actually prefer this for reading. I bought the 16GB one and ordered a 256GB micro SD card and stuck that in for storage. The tablet itself was $100 with a case on Amazon.
Definitely worth it! |

Thanks everyone, I've decided to go with the Galaxy tab A 8.4. Now to find some decent reading software - my previous was several Android versions back, I'm not sure what has changed in the software currently. I know Bookari is no longer supported. I used to like Moon+Reader. Hopefully it hasn't changed much.
