I haven't upgraded my Sigil in a long time, but in v 9.9, there is a Misc folder, that occasionally will snag a file if the extension is a bit off, or there is a file-name problem.
Does this later version of Sigil still display the Miscellaneous folder? if so, you might check that to see if the "already existing" file is in there. |

Ah! GrannyGrump - that's exactly where the file was! - I didn't notice the little arrow appear for a drop down view. How did you deal with the files to get them into the Text folder?

Please share the exact name of the file that ends up in the Misc folder with us, so we can determine if there is a bug we need to address or not. No file with an xhtml or html extension should end up there.

As mentioned previously, the file with the issue is whats-the-best.xhtml
It seems innocuous enough. |

Yes. Files with an xml extension could very-well show up in the Misc category. That's by design. But it seems there might be two separate issues going on here: 1) a spurious incorrect file extension; and 2) an incorrect assumption that importing a file will automatically open said file in a new CodeView tab.
There is no conceivable reason that whats-the-best.xhtml would be imported to the Misc category. Some screenshots of whats-the-best.xhtml parked in the Misc folder of Book Browser would be handy. You have to go to the advanced reply/post section to access the file attachment manager to upload images. Please make sure any image you attach complies with forum rules and doesn't exceed 600px (in either dimension). |

BeckyEbook and DiapDealer - if ever there were a glitch, it is me. I had named the file extension .xhml, completely missing out the "t". I put it down to being very, very old and trying to work without glasses. It adds perfectly now with the right extension. But thank you all for getting me to the point where I realised that the problem was of my own making (and stupidity).

Ahhh. Got it. That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying (and glad you got it figured out).
