I am really liking my Boox Note 2 (10.3") reading mostly epubs, in KOReader. It did feel a little odd at first but I upped the font size for reading, so the page is much the same as I would see on my Kobo AuraHD, just with bigger letters and a little more spacing. Of course the cover images and maps look better at the larger full screen size.

The only worry I have is with the "Phone Home" (perhaps to China?) nature of most of the Onyx features. Having so many things requiring connection to their cloud servers, is a little suspicious, I would much prefer to be able to work offline. Paranoid maybe?

Luck;
Ken

What exactly doesn't work when reading offline? I switch on the Wifi once in a blue moon, to see if there is an update, but otherwise, I read offline.

There were a number of them when I first looked at setting things up. The ones that jump out now were the "Fingerprint/password features and the "transfer books" function. Some of the others don't show their requirement to be "logged in" to an Onyx account, to function until later in the setup.

Luck;

I'm assuming the answer is yes since it's e-ink, but want to make sure I ask.
I think there was a bug with the note 2 that caused the text to fade in sunlight. I think it's fixed now. Check on the Onyx sub-forum.

I have a 7.8 nova and nova pro and a 6" poke pro. Personally I think 7.8" is as large as I'd want to go for an e-reader. 10" will be really handy if you want to read A4 format PDF.

The Oasis screen and contrast might be better than the Onyx. After all, Onyx can't match Amazon's resources. For example, the Nova contrast is weaker than a Nook 3GL. But I got used to Nova, and the weaker contrast doesn't bother me. Also, I think the Nook contrast is better than the Oasis or a Kobo. So it's not a fair comparison. But don't worry. I'm really fussy about contrast, and I'm okay with the Nova.

Also the Onyx has a nice orange comfort light. It's not as nice as the Nook, which is a deep red, but it's better than the Kobo, which is a pale yellow in comparison.

Anyway, depends what you want. I like my Onyx. I have 4 now *eye roll* They are solid hardware that lasts.

I suggest you buy it from Amazon, or Onyx themself, or Booxtor in Germany, in case there is a problem.

It isnt the Note2!
The problem exists on 7.8 inch Wacom screens - on my Boox Nova 2 and my Likebook Ares Note.
This error does not exist on my Likebook Alita (10.3 inch).
