You might have a look at C.S. Friedman's "Cold Fire" trilogy. Several of the main characters are quite powerful sorcerers right out of the gate.

"Tigana" by Guy Gavriel Kay also has some fairly powerful POV sorcerer characters, although the MAIN main character isn't a wizard at all.

One of my favorites, it has 7 books in total and that is the Witcher series.
The first thing I loved about it is its maturity. It doesn't mind being brutal and doesn't shy away from sex.
Also the development of characters is done in a great way.

Apart from that my second favorite series is the stormlight archives by Brandon Sanderson.
Expansive world with many cultures and different people.
