I got it working on Kobo Nia. Sad though can't see pointer and gnome screenshot has an animation effect now which delays how fast it can take screenshot.after googling Perhaps better to use scrot. But Wierd thing is I can't get both scrot or gnome screenshot to include pointer from the cmd line. Why is this?

Also doable via windows too? Using putty? If only there was a cli screenshot tool

Did you try ananchovy's rust vnc client?
https://www.mobileread.com/forums//s...d.php?t=348481

It is even newer.
It's amusing though to see NiMa's humble beginnings, now that he went on to help produce an entire OS (InkBox).

You never know - this older project could end up working out better for you, so I don't think your effort was wasted.

Szybet gave a demo of his mirroring app which had video mirroring performance the rust vnc client couldn't match, but the rust vnc app performed well at small screen disturbances, e.g. making changes in an editor.

just to note about this rust vnc app

I couldn't make it to work. A Inkbox developer who knows rust. Trust me I tried everything. Maybe the nia is cursed with this one but I haven't seen any device specific problems.

I made the kobodisplay.sh script work on Kobo Aura but I did some things differently to make it work properly.
In landscape mode, the screenshot was not displaying at a corner of the screen so I had to use portrait mode instead. When executing the script in portrait mode, I also had to invert the width and height so for the width I added 758 and for the height 1024.
Then I had to edit the script to do a rotation of 90 degrees of the screenshot and also used the scrot command mentioned by @noobyme to avoid the screenshot blinking of gnome-screenshot on my laptop (I read we cannot disable it unless recompiling gnome-screenshot: https://askubuntu.com/questions/8543...lash-animation).
So the last line of the script I used looks like this:
while true; do scrot -p /tmp/continuous.png --overwrite && convert -rotate 90 /tmp/continuous.png /tmp/continuous.png && sshpass -p test scp /tmp/continuous.png root@$ip:/tmp ; done

Okay because I'm a noob when I first used this I had no clue about anything, coming back here a while later, for the next noobs who come here the reason it's so slow is because fbink options used were asking for full refresh, I thought it was a hardware limitation. U want to ask fbink to do "fbink -W A2 -g file='.',w=1024,h=1024". Waveforms determine the speed of your refreshes. Option h k and f means will ghost less but be slow af. A2 is the fastest waveform
