Allow me to suggest another freeware alternative: SyncToy 2.1(x64). As old as it is, it still installs and runs fine under Win10. It's a manual sync tool with options that you can set up. I have it configured to 'Echo' left to right, Original location to backup location. The only shortcoming is that you can only select one folder (and its subfolders) for each task, but there is a menu selection to 'Run all Folder Pairs'. For Calibre, I have it configured to backup my Libraries, Calibre User files, Books (where I 'Save to Disk' after entering new books), and Kobo Database Backup (from Kobo Utils).

FFS is also dozens of times faster than SyncToy (I used ST up till about a year ago, then switched. Oh My! )

That is subjective.
Also, FFS might be good, but some practices from its developer (inclusion of some sneaky code that was not present in the source) make me uncomfortable using or recommending it. Last edited by ownedbycats; 01-29-2021 at 04:55 PM. |

Wikipedia : Comparison of file synchronization software
I've been using GoodSynch since 2007/8. At the time it was the only product I could find that a) could interop with FTP services; and b) had sensible options for handling hardlinks and symlinks. I don't know if that's still true. BR |

SyncBack does have some FTP/cloud storage integration, though since it's limited to the paid versions I have no idea if it's any good.
I used Cobian Backup for years (at least 2011; likely even earlier), though since it's not really supported anymore I've been slow switching away and finally dropped it a month or two ago. Last edited by ownedbycats; 01-29-2021 at 05:39 PM. |
