Since there was a reply in this thread afer 14 months of inactivity, I thought I would toss in that on a Kindle Paperwhite 4, firmware 5.13.7 and 5.14.1 still give a "The browser or app may not be secure" error attempting to log in to a Google account.
On a brighter note, my Kobo ereaders can connect and login to Google.
