Since the book is free, I tried downloading it using K4PC 1.29. Without disabling KFX, it downloaded as a KFX and was unusable, with KFX disabled, it downloaded as a AZW4 which KindleUnpack was happy to extract the PDF from.

I don't know. I know they're rare, quite possibly only books that were published before the advent of ebooks for which the publisher is unwilling to provide a more useful format. I've only got one, out of thousands: David Benatar's mind-twisting this-argument-must-be-wrong-but-I-can't-see-how book _Better Never To Have Been: The Harm of Coming Into Existence_.
