He makes a couple of clear errors though. He says that the Nia is the smallest ereader available, but the Clara is smaller. He mentions the "flat front" of the Libra as a feature advantage. I can only assume he means a flush screen but of course it doesn't have one.

Looks like the Clara and Nia are very close to the same size - nothing that's likely to make anybody choose one or the other based on size alone:

https://us.kobobooks.com/collections.../kobo-clara-hd
159.6 x 110 x 8.35 mm 166 g

https://us.kobobooks.com/collections...ducts/kobo-nia
112.4 x 159.3 x 9.2 mm 172 g

(dimensions copy/pasted directly from Kobo)

Yeah, I caught those too.

The Nia is shorter than the Clara, isn't it? I'm going off of memory, but I think the Nia is claimed to be wider, thicker and shorter than the Clara. So you could arguably say it is smaller*.

The Libra; I really do wish it had a flush screen.

*I have to say that smaller ereaders aren't necessarily better to me. My 2015 Glowlight Plus is taller and wider than my Clara, but the larger bezels make it more comfortable for me to hold.

The Clara is nice and compact, but I am conscious of the smaller bezels when I'm holding it to read. Not a concern I ever have with the Glowlight (the capacitive Home button is a challenge sometimes, but that's neither here nor there).

Not an error exactly, but I think this sentence is misleading --

"Kobo also lacks Amazon's subscription reading deal, Kindle Unlimited, where you can read all the books you want for a fixed price per month."

I’m willing to forgive this as Kobo Plus is currently very limited and I believe it won’t even show up unless you’re in a country with it. Those countries being Canada, Belgium, and Norway. And possibly not even all of the country?

Yes it’s inaccurate to say it doesn’t exist but would mentioning it with its limitations make even the slightest difference for most people reading the review?

There is where Sascha botched his review big time.

I have to say that the extra wide bezel on the nook make it not nice to hold and it makes the nook look silly.

It's correct for the UK where the review was written.

Not having owned an ereader with a recessed display since the Aura H2O, I had the same thought initially. However, it turns out not to be an issue at all for me. It's only recessed about 1mm and is barely noticeable, if at all. Have you seen one?

My Nook friends love the wide bezel for that very reason. Also, it is easier to grip for some people suffering with arthritis.

I guess I should have explained-- it was the Amazon part I found misleading, not the Kobo part.

If I didn't know better I would have thought it meant that I could read any Kindle book I wanted.

I don't know. I understand what you are talking about, but that seems pretty nit-picky to me.

You must have purposely misinterpreted that. The correct quote is:

With its 6-inch, 212ppi E Ink screen, the Nia is best for reading plain text. A lot of manga and comics fans like Kobo because of the company's broad file support, but the screen is just a bit too small for viewing pictures.

The lower resolution screen is best for reading plain text. Not so much for manga or comics.

Also, here is where you botched your review of his review big time.

Third sentence of the review: Here in Queens, New York, our libraries haven't been browsable for months due to COVID-19.

All I can say is: That is so wrong that the rest of your opinion is worthless.

But you can view pictures on a 6" eInk screen. I've viewed pictures on an 800x600 6" Eink screen long before HD and 300DPI came out. Also, his saying plain text sounds like he means a text file. So he needs to change that mess he wrote.

I don't know where he gets off saying his libraries haven't been browsable for months. All of the libraries I belong to have been browsable online. So he cannot go to the library. But you can browse their websites.

So again he's not really saying what he means. He's getting it all wrong. His editor should have picked up on his mistakes.

He doesn’t say you can’t view an image Jon. He says manga/comics/etc are better on a bigger/higher resolution screen.

No one reading this review is going to think he means a plain text file. First not many would even think of a .txt file when thinking of an ereader they’d just think ebook (no these people wouldn’t even distinguish epub, azw, or mobi other than their libraries having amazon support or not). Anyone who thinks of plain text as .txt files would be smart enough to know the difference for an ereader and would at least know epub.

Anyone capable of reading even the slightest amount of context would understand what he means by browsable, a word which has a far longer history in the context he’s using it than the one you’re using.

No he’s saying what he means, you’re intentionally misinterpreting what he wrote. There’s a rather large difference.

A person who says that an article that states Here in Queens, New York... was written in the UK is not going to be a reliable source when it comes to spotting errors. Sorry.
