Hmm. New wrinkle. I decided to try converting a different epub just to see if I could get the same result, and I'm having problems. I checked to make sure the epub has the same pagebreak structure, and did the epub-to-epub conversion to split at page breaks, but instead of splitting the xhtml, it appears that running the conversion is removing the pagebreak span tags.
I did upgrade to the most recent version of Calibre the other day, but I THOUGHT I did it before my previous successful test, so I'm not sure if that's relevant. I'm going to attach a section of the new book, in case it's something weird with this specific book. Thanks in advance! |

Oh and regarding the direct conversion to PDF you can get the pagebreaks there working as well by making the pagebreak elements have display: block . Something like this in extra css
span[role=doc-pagebreak] { display: block; pagebreak-before: always } |
