I can not make it happen. Guess I can only wait for a programming guru...

See Visual Kindle Guide which illustrates how to use an ebook processing python script (KindleFIX). Note that the KindlePID page tells you how to install python. If this isn't enough help then look in eReader Decoder Tool or Ereader2Html (which is shorter). You can ask in these threads for (some) more help.

There are two sections specifically involved. First, convertEreaderToHTML class runs both the EreaderProcessor section which decrypts the .pdb as well as the extraction sections (one set of code that extracts and writes the images and the PMLConverter class that creates an HTML file) so if you strip out those parts of convertEreaderToHTML which extract the images and write the HTML part, you 'should' be able to write out the decrypted .pdb to a new file. I'm not sure, but I think that the EreaderProcessor class processes each block of encrypted .pdb data separately, so you'd just have to take the extracted header info, write it to a memory stream, append the decrypted data blocks and then write the whole memory file to an output file.

I understand the logic. Unfortunately, I lack the programming knowledge. I tried (hahaha) to delete the convertEreaderToHTML class. Whaddya know... the .py won't work .
So that left me hesitant to buy .pdb for the moment. But with the current .lit issue (cannot open purchased .lit file even after I updated and re-authorize my msreader), I'm not buying any ebook for a while. While .prc is an option, my current ebook reader (iPhone) only wants .pdb (i'm now a fan of ereader pro).

I'll look into it. Does anyone have a source for DRM-free eReader books so I know what they look like?

yup. the dropbook will accept .pml
i use an msword file which convert the .html from ereader2html to recreate the .pdb. It's a long process though, since it requires tinkering manually with the .pml in order to properly create the new .pdb

I'm really NOT understanding what your problem is. After all, running the output of eReader2HTML through BookDesigner WILL allow you to create a .pdb (non-DRM) ebook. And you can always run the output through eReader's own publisher program as well.

lit has convertlit to expand drm-ed .lit to undrm-ed lit and multi-html.
prc has mobi2whatever, including mobi2mobi.
ereader/pdb has ereader2hml... and...?
