Seem to be a lot of posters to this thread who don't use their kindles in the way I do: with wifi permanently off, home screen disabled and no kindle unlimited. I have two paperwhites, the 2 and 3, I use both of them.
The PW3 was secondhand and would have adverts on it IF the wifi and home screen were on. As it is on the PW3 I get a screensaver of a woman standing by a telescope, I have to swipe this and it either opens at the last page being read or the list view. The list view does have an anoying banner across the bottom which just says "You next great read is waiting in the Kindle store" This is annoying because it occupies what would otherwise have been two more list items. The only reason I haven't paid to have the 'banner' removed is that I don't have wifi and it doesn't seem important enough to borrow a friend's. |
