There are two patches to make Kobo ignore font-family and line spacing in epub. You have to enable them in two files: this is the related part of the Yaml file (see the instruction for patching, are more simpler to do than to explain)

Ehm, I tried installing the first patch with Terminal (I have a Mac) and I got this - are things supposed to look like this, has the patch been applied or..? I have no idea about scripts

I copied the firmware and patch files as per instructions and then tried installing the patches by putting them into Terminal on Mac and pressing enter...
I am all at sea. The vastest sea in deep black space. Clueless as to what I am actually doing

My .kobo folder on mac has the following contents - is anything missing, should I put something somewhere else? The instructions state I should put files like this in the .kobo folder...

Edit the yaml file for the patches you want to install changing no to yes for the patches you want to install. Run kobopatch.sh. My personal preference is to open terminal, cd to the kobopatch directory and use ./kobopatch.sh to execute the file. The first time I run it, it fails and I have to allow it to run from Security and Privacy in System Preferences. The second time, it whines but I can allow it to run. After that, just run it. If it completes successfully, a KoboRoot.tgz and log.txt file will be found in the out directory. Copy the KoboRoot.tgz file to the .kobo directory on your Kobo ereader One caution is that MacOS has the habit of attempting to unpack .zip files for you. I've attached an image of the VM Mac desktop with the kobopatch, KoboEreader and terminal window open. I don't own a Mac, I just run Macs in virtual machines. Much cheaper and easier to cart around than 9 or 10 real computers. |

Just reinforce the caution that the version of the patcher must match the version of the software you are running...
I really don't see much difference between the suggested steps in the replies in this thread and those in the Instructions for patching firmware 4.20.14622 thread. Other than my preference for using the command line so I didn't bother with using the GUI to drag the kobopatch.sh into Terminal. I'm already in Terminal so just execute the shell script already. |
