Or if you can wait, you could try looking for a cheap Kobo on eBay. Once you have some experience, if you think Kobo is far superior to Kindle, then maybe it will be with the risk of ordering the Libra.

Basically my thoughts on this. The OP is already used to the Kindle and Amazon's market and there's a lot less hassle to go with a Kindle. I don't know how hard it would be to find a Kobo in Brazil, but even an old, cheap one would be introduction into the Kobo world and that would the future decision easier.

Guys, thanks for the answers and opinions.

I looked for some kobo used here and they are rare, I didn't find any interesting.

I think that if in the USA it was that problem to return, here without local assistance it would be terrible. It is not worth paying the price.

I looked on ebay too, but the shipping price is prohibitive and not all users ship worldwide.

So under these conditions, to have a bigger screen, I believe that Oasis is the choice.

Edit. Today I saw an used kobo aura h20 2 edition selling. I ask the seller and waiting. Let's see.

Koreader is not a must have for Kobo. Maybe you will like it. But I would recommend use the Kobo's own software for a while before you decide if you want Koreader.

I've had Kobos for years and have never installed it.

Automatically, if you keep wifi on. You can update manually too, if you wish. The same as Kindle.

No. It's just that the folks who patch their Kobos don't generally want to be hit with an update before the patches for that update are out. So we keep wifi off and update manually. If you don't patch, there will be no difference how you update. Some people prefer not to update right away but wait till the bugs have shown themselves. I update my Kindles manually for the same reason. Let the brave people test the update before I decide to install it (or not).

I update manually just because leaving WiFi off saves me battery. And since I don't buy my books from Kobo, leaving WiFi on all the time for an occasional software update isn't worth it. Especially since manually updating is pretty easy. And I do use a couple of patches anyway.

Sounds like a Kobo is what you really wanted. Congratulations! I've got an older Aura HD that has the same sized screen. I kind of like the 6.8" screen (though 7.8" seems too big to me).

I don't do anything with my Kobos except use them. I used to patch them, but some of the recent changes they've made in the firmware have already incorporated the features I wanted with the patches.

Since the Aura H2O Revison 2 came in two versions (v. 1 and v.2) it might be safest to let the automatic sync pick the right upgrade file, at least to start. (Though I don't know if the new firmware would manually install if it was the wrong version or not.) I've got the Kobo Aura Edition 2 (not sure which version I have, as these also have v.1 and v.2) and so far I've just let the automatic update take care of it.
