So, I took a look on their site and they do seem to have the best prices. Any problems with liberating their Microsoft .lit files?

I haven't yet done it, but I don't see why it would be a problem.

I had $44 micropay dollars trapped at Fictionwise. I say trapped because I can't enter and use my Kindle PID (yes, I know I could have used my computer PID). I purchased 6 books in the LIT format. I could have purchased them a bit cheaper at Amazon but I wanted to get my money out. One of them wouldn't convert with any version of ConvertLit (command line or GUI).

Are you sure it was a secured LIT? Did you try to downconvert? What error did you get on the command line?

(BTW: Since I have a Mac I now use my PC's PID and get mobi at FW and use mobidedrm. So far so good.)

Yep, I downconverted. This particular book was the 4th in the series, the rest converted just fine.

Can you remove the DRM without converting it? If so, try Calibre's lit2oeb and see if that works.

Nope. I've tried GUI downconverting and not downconverting. Command line convertlit 1.8 and 1.5, Vista and XP. I found a thread here on MR of other people having the same issue and they were able to use a Calibre patch Kovid made but it appears those were non-DRM's files. I can't find the thread again.

Thank you JSWolf. With your help I was able to get my lit file to convert with no problems. I was even able to use the GUI to do it. Karma to ya!

The solution was to use the version of ConvertLIT that Kovid has fixed a bug in.
