The only devices connected to my laptop are monitors, Blue-ray player and port replicator.
Anything to loose by uninstalling and reinstalling Calibre? |

Nothing to lose, but also nothing to gain.
By design, some options are not available when a device or folder is connected. BR |

If I go to Device icon, there's an "Eject this device" option that isn't dimmed out. The laptop has 2 *internal* drives, with all data on the 2nd drive. I hope it doesn't think the 2nd drive is an external device?

I have no idea, but if calibre did as you're suggesting, this board would light up like a Christmas tree.
I can't remember how one connects/disconnects a folder, but if the Connect/share button's Eject device isn't greyed out it must think something is connected. I don't connect devices or folders to calibre, so I can't help any further. BR |

Given that your send to device and device icons are the ones used for a connect to folder, you have an active connect to folder. Try a left click on the arrow beside Device icon and eject this "device".

I got bold and brave and clicked Eject. Now my icons at top match BetterRed screen shot including Library options.
What did "Main" refer to in the On Device column shown in a previous screen shot? Most Library items had it. It's gone now. Is there anyway to know what "Main" is if it or that column shows back up with something else in it? Thank you both for prompt help and patience! |

At a guess "Main" and "Main (2 bo…" are the names of folders on your computer, maybe MS put them there

@CaptainKen Now go back to post 5 and follow my directions.
Oh and as to the ZIP file that means what you are adding to the library is an HTML file. Calibre ZIPs those. |

Devices have Main (the primary storage location set by the driver), and MAY have additional storage: SD slots. Tablets and Phones are mainly the modern devices with provision for additional storage. Not all storage may be available to USB connections YOU DO NOT 'save' to the Library. That is automatic for any Calibre operation (Add, Edit Metadata). If you EDIT a book , you must choose save or yor edits go poof (you will be asked if you have not saved when exiting) ![]() |

JSWold thanks for the clarification about HTML files saved to Library as Zip files, it was driving me crazy.
theducks, when I edit a book I choose OK to save, because there is not a Save button. Every time I open Calibre there is an "On Device" column. Out of 665 books 91 have Main next to them. Even though I click Eject, the next time I open the program it is back. As explained earlier there are not any external drives connected. How do I determine what device "Main" is pointing to" How do I stop "On Device" from appearing? |

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Eject should have cleared a 'Save to Folder' device for good. ![]() Make sure the is a Mirror only (basically a backup) To see WHAT-Where: while the green ticks are present: Switch to device view (I think it will look like a folder): select a book: Tap 'O' on the keyboard: Explorer should show where it is. PLEASE REPORT HERE for advice, where it is before touching any files and making a bigger problem ![]() That does NOT stop it from happening again, which is the main issue. But we need to know all the clues |

No cloud sync to Appdata. Windows and all programs are installed to the C drive with no sync in place. However, ALL data is stored on an internal secondary D drive that is configured to always sync with OneDrive.
For the View icon my only options are: - View with specific format - View with Calibre E-book viewer - Read a random book - Clear recently viewed list The above being said, when I click on book in list and then press O, Explorer opens to the folder as shown in this example: D:\OneDrive - genesisresource.com\Documents\Calibre Library\L.
