The weight for the T3 cover is included for the standard model, the non "S" version. That cover is removed to install the lighted cover so the added weight is for the light addition to the lighted cover and the light assembly is very light weight. Other posters report weights similar to my original post. 12.2 ounces is what my clamshell cased Kindle Keyboard weighs, huge compared to the T3.

Yep. If you remove the case, the T3 weighs about 4.9 ounces (138.8 grams). The lighted case weighs about 2.65 ounces (75.3 grams). This means the non-lit case weighs a little over 2.1 ounces. if you don't have the case on a T3 some of the innards are vulnerable. it's not really designed to be used that way, but you can do it.

Doesn't feel comfortable in your hand either, has rough bits poking out.
