I can open the old ebook Viewer and use it to open an epub but I can't make it maintain the association. Every time I want to open that epub I have to use the Viewer to do it again. Can we figure out how to make this association stick? I tried using the Control Panel and Default Programs but that won't work either. | |

@wildchild1954 - see Configuring and using Calibre's built in Open With I can't see your image, I think its in your private google drive. Post it here, by going into Advanced Mode and clicking the paper clip or scrolling down and clicking the Manage Attachments button. BR |

With the settings in that screen shot calibre will use the 4.12 viewer when viewing epubs. Rather than messing Windows Open With I prefer to use Calibre's Open With to access the 3.48 viewer as described in the link I posted in post 19. But I've forgotten why you don't want to use the version 4 viewer, I didn't like the 4.0 viewer, which is why I hooked installed calibre into the 3.48 portable viewer. But Kovid has made a lot changes since then, so I rarely use the old one now. BR Last edited by BetterRed; 03-30-2020 at 12:24 AM. |

PS: I noticed you have DOCX checked in that screenshot. Why do you want to view DOCX files with the calibre viewer, and not a 'native' viewer like Word or Office Writer (which would presumably be the Windows default handler for DOCX). BR |

Your instructions from the link in Post #19 still don't do me any good. Not a one of the shown screen shots look anything like what I'm working with in Calibre v4.13.0. If I right click on the epub format as shown in the first screen shot all I get is Select All, Copy all, and Search the internet for this book.

You have to right-click exactly on the text (the cursor will change when you're hovering it). It can be tricky sometimes.

It doesn't seem to matter where I click on that darned EPUB. Even making sure the cursor changes from an arrow to a hand when I'm hovering it all I can get is those same three links. Does the fact that I'm using Calibre v4.13 instead of v4.12 matter?

You have created a custom formats column and that is what you are displaying in the book details panel. Dispay the builtin formats one and it will work.
