Lack of drivers for W10 would be a fantastic reason.
But that still begs why 1.x. They might not be able to do 4.x, but 3.x should be OK with the newer QT

Calibre not recognising 10th gen Kindle not paperwhite

I was looking at the wrong part of the screen. I have downloaded the latest version of Calibre and everything is working fine.
