I have also noticed differences in Preferences / Appearance.
Windows shows user interface and not on linux.
First image windows, second linux

I would suspect that allows selecting an item that does not exist on Linux or is handled so differently between distros that it was not considered worthwhile to implement.

yup system theme causes crashes on linux, so the option is removed.
