I did the same thing, first said bleep it it is being returned without getting a replacement, but then decided to try one replacement. The Oasis is the best Kindle I’ve ever owned as far as lighted screen and ease on the eyes when reading goes. It was also the first lighted Kindle I’ve owned to have a great screen on the first go around. I returned 3 PW1'S and 2 PW2'S due to awful screens. But unfortunately it is also the very first Kindle I’ve ever owned to have a defect. Hopefully it was just a quirk, or maybe it got handled roughly during shipping. I searched the internet for others having this issue and didn’t see that many similar complaints. After that I decided to get it replaced. I really do like reading on it. Even with the vertical line I can read on it, although it does distract my eyes a bit. It isn't really noticeable much when using the inverted text mode. But one line can easily turn into many lines so it is best to replace it while I’m still in the 30 day return window.

I'm using it and enjoying it, but trying not to touch it too much so I don't get mad (it's also too freaking cold), and I will be watching it like a hawk for signs of problems beyond what I've experienced so far. the sharp edges... can't do a thing about them yet and with fibro they are a very real, long-term issue for me. |

Yeah. The current Oasis with a body like the Oasis 1 would be a dream. I had one, but sold it earlier this year, because I really don't want to read on a 6'' screen anymore. I loved the little device while I used it, though.

that would have been the ideal Oasis for me. I like the small form factor. the Oasis 3 is fine, but not nearly as portable, for me, as a PW.

The PW's have awful screens. And the newer models are made too cheaply to have any quality. I prefer the Oasis and its large bevel on the side with the buttons so I can hold it easier. I wish they would actually make it thicker though with a larger battery. But the "thinner is better" crowd would have a cow if they did. I think a lot of older folks like me would prefer a thicker body so we could hold it more comfortably. Children's hands are stubby and I remember we had to use those fat pencils when I was in 1st grade because thin pencils were hard for us to hold. Well when you get older you start to need that again. Thin is an ugly word and concept to an older adult when it comes to objects that we need to hold and use.

![]() it hurts me to hold it and I don't want a cold, plastic back. I want the soft touch my PWs had (may they rest in peace). |

I agree with you all about the thin aspect. I am one of these weirdos that would like a nice thick side that I could really get a good grip on.
Thin may look good but it is totally non-ergonomic for me. |

^ That's for the Oasis 2, I see. [Two posts above.]
Is it true that the battery area on the Oasis 3 is slightly deeper than the Oasis 2 in order to accommodate a slightly more powerful battery? (I wonder if the cover will fit fine on the Oasis 3.) Last edited by Dr. Drib; 12-06-2019 at 04:03 PM. |

^ I slightly edited some words on my post as you posted.
I'm glad it fits the Oasis 3. Thanks. |

per the product page "9th Generation, 2017 Release" and cases from the 2017/2019 models can share, though not 2018, afaik.
