I do the same, a few books, but I love Calibre. I have it set to help me quickly pick books to load and I like to track those I've read and when I read them. I have many custom columns and so forth. I don't like Goodreads for that. I've reached my Amazon saturation threshold.

I manage my library in Calibre too. It's even more important for me because I buy my books from different stores, not only Amazon.

Still, I've never had any issues with my (many) Kindles, hardware- or software-wise. Even though I tend to keep more than a thousand books on a single device. Presumably I've been lucky. To be fair, Kobo and Nook have their share of problems. There is no perfect faultless ereader in existence, anywhere. Each manufacturer has their good and not so good sides. And you, as a customer, just have to compromise.

I've had my Oasis 3 for 2 months now and while I still like it (I got several and chose the one with the best screen, so the quality is great), I'm slowly getting more annoyed with the cold back. It's literally too cold to hold now that my hands are often cold because of the weather.

I've switched to my Voyage right now, but I'm bummed I'm slowly falling out of love with my Oasis.

I've searched the entire internet for a back cover, but it doesn't seem to exist.

Oh, and I use a skin, but that doesn't really help since it still feels cold.

thank you. excellent info and has saved me a lot of grief and expense. I appreciate that a lot since I was going to try the skin route.

if I end up keeping mine I can at least mitigate the cold, though not the sharp edges, with a homemade back skin made from very thin leather.

still hopeful for the time being...

Try TalonGrip. It's a US firm that makes gungrips of grippy rubbery material, but they sell the material itself too, in little sheets and strips. They ship internationally and are not expensive. I'm very satisfied with their material. It's comfy to hold and resilient.

life is a compromise, I'm tired of compromising with Amazon. rather give someone else a shot if I can't use the Oasis the way I need to. if I hate it every time I touch it, why pay for it? it's not exactly a free ereader.

I took a look at that, and it looks good at first glance. I'm a fan of the silicone feel over the that feel and texture, but I tracked down a lovely, thin piece of leather and will use that instead if I keep the Oasis.

Right now I have my own skin made from material they use to black out windows and stuff. It's pretty thick and has a nice grip. I love it on my Voyage. But somehow the Oasis still feels cold(er).

Perhaps I will feel differently in a few weeks, but right now I'm just reading on my Voyage.

the only winning thing for me, with the sharp edges and ice cold back, is that I don't actually hold my kindles unless I'm moving them or plugging/unplugging them, etc. so a piece of leather might actually be fine and I just won't ever hold it to read since it cuts me so badly while holding.

I think this is exactly what is wrong. did it yet again just now. the slightest touch to the left side frame and it jumped pages. I was hoping this was poor touch area programming or something like that (not a programmer obviously), but clearly that isn't the case (npi).

came up with a very short-term solution for the cold metal back until I figure out if I'm keeping this thing. removable glue dots and a piece of craft foam I have that, interestingly, is the exact size of the back of the Oasis with no trimming. kind of kizmet-ish.

the glue dots will come off with minimal residue that can be easily cleaned and I can reuse the foam should I need to. short-term because the foam is a little stiff and thick for real use.

I use these for a lot of things around the house and have some left.

I have no idea. I just know that something is very wrong. shouldn't be connected to the case though.

if I'm touching the case and not any part of the screen nor bezels, and no where near the buttons, there should be no page turn action.

when I went back to read again, I noticed that case touch had also reset my page settings again. this baby has issues. barely 24 hours with me.
