I have no use for a second monitor. I just don't work that way. There's no advantage in it for the things I do on a computer. *shrug*

Hmmm... most of the admin types around work now have dual monitors. When we first started installing them, there was quite a bit of the "Why would anyone need two monitors" attitude. Now? "You can have my second monitor when you pry it from my cold dead fingers" is the common attitude. Admitedly most of the laptop users have some sort of docking station at their station to allow for easy connection to dual monitors, keyboard, mouse, wired network, etc. but quite a few use a desktop at work and a laptop for mobile use.

We do have one staffer who has 4 monitors wall-mounted. The computer driving them uses dual video cards with more memory and CPU than the rest of his department. A very enthused AutoCad user...

If I had a spare monitor, I would more than likely just build a new rig to hook up to it!

Now, KVM switches I get. I've always been inclined to have more PC than monitor--not the other way 'round. Graphics, graphics cards and monitors are the least of my concerns when provisioning. The integrated graphics on the mobo are usually suitable for my needs. Nothing I do is graphics-intensive, and the only things I have running on a regular basis tend to be terminals, file explorer windows and a browser.

A lot of today's intense calculations are shifted to the GPU - whether they are graphics related or not. The GPU, with its parallel processing, is soooo much better-faster-stronger than the CPU that it just makes sense to use it.

And what requires "intense calculations" today that I might be using?

One user I moved had 6 (17" was big, back then) on one cart mounted PC

I just binned 2 4 port (PS2) KVM's. I only have 1 (antique) box that still has that type of port. Very few of the servers that I have racked have PS2 any more.

I once remarked a fellow student at the University of Manchester how much safer I felt at home, where the juice was only 120 volts. (Well, 110 volts as we reckoned it at the time.) His eyes opened wide, and he said: "But how do you get rid of grannie?"

That ain't gonna happen in the UK. They have whole house RCD's.

Here, they are only on selected branches (the UK calls them 'Radials'), The Bath and Patio were the firs of the required locations. Now, it is also near any sink or water.
