The different firmware flavours (Jinke/lBook/BeBook) are essentially the same with only minor differences, so yes, tools like the Logomaker work on all of them. There are slight differences, though. E.g. the lBook firmware uses crengine/CoolReader for .txt-files (the same app as used for .rtf and .fb2 files), while the Jinke firmware uses their own, far inferior, text reader - or at least used to, I haven't checked the latest version.

so is there a standing 'best hanlin firmware'? I kinda got the impression that most pple thought the lbook firmware was meant to be the best?

Of all firmwares I've tested, my prefered one is Openinkpot :-). It supports FB2 and PRC (and other formats) quite well, is faster than original, power management is great (from 75% charge to 32% charge in 11 days without turning the V3 off in all this time), have some hacks that improves page turning speed, and font usage, file management inside the machine and the developers are really helpful on IRC. The latest snapshot is totally stable. Hasn't hang my V3 once in this 11 days of heavy usage.

What it lacks is PDF and DJVu support, but it'll come.

Original firmware, Bebook, etc. took a lot of time to load a fb2 file, and it didn't open some of them. If the file was bigger than 1.5 Mb it didn't open it.

Im using bebooks firmware, and was surprised when I could use jinkes logomaker to add custom startup/shutdown screen on the bebook firmware.
Bebook is the clone of Hanlin V3...yup you are right

Just used LogoMaker on my Astak EZ Reader. Works but I had to do some manipulating on my images to get them to show well on the reader. Am very pleased with the final results.

If anyone else trys it be sure to make your images 16 color greyscale when you save them. I found that error diffusion dithering worked best with photos.

Slayda,
There are a number of logo samples here. The forum is in Russian, and most of the logos contain the word "lbook", but you can easily change the text to read "EZ Reader" or "BeBook".

EDIT: Never mind. That forum page is old and most of the images are no longer accessible. Only the thumbnails remain.
