I am basically waiting to see if the Mars gets some love.

My rationale is:

1. I am ONLY using the device for reading, so the Nova Pro is a bit much when the Mars does the same thing so much cheaper.
2. If they update to Android 8.0, the device will support apps a bit longer, at least I suspect that will be the case, so the lifetime of the device will be longer.

If they do not do the Android update, I will be leaning on the Nova.
I would love to see both the Mars and the Nova get updates to newer versions of Android. That's a win for all of us!!

I have the Likebook Mars. Its main advantages over the Onyx Nova are that it has an audio port and a micro SD card slot, and it is cheaper. Its main disadvantages are that the Nook app won't read books on it, its default reading app is worthless, and it provides fewer options for customizing an app. But I hardly read Nook books, I use Moon+ Reader instead of the default reading app for DRM-free content, and it will let you change the DPI of an app, which is useful for getting around the limited font sizes in the Kindle app. If I had an Onyx device, I could go into more detail, but I don't.
