Hi Kovid

I suggest adding this by default if possible, because the blue on black is unreadable and makes eyes bleed.

Thanks!

Similar problem with Calibre's system-wide hyperlink blue links in the dark theme on MacOS, including the Book Editor.

Was able to change the Book Details links colour (to a light blue, I used #68baf4) but, for example, the 'Configure' link at the bottom of the Book Details window is still in the deep blue and difficult to see against the dark background. Same issue with the Editor; links such as 'Run check', 'Try to fix all errors automatically', or 'Re-run the check' are all in the deep blue.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix that?

It's not calibre that chooses that color, it's Qt. You should open a bug report against that and get them to change it, otherwise its a game of whack-a-mole with every link anywhere in the UI

@kovidgoyal quick question: I notice that (eg) apple's own "numbers" app provides a black-on-white spreadsheet canvas, despite the whole of the rest of the UI rendering in light-on-black (when in dark mode), so is it a limitation in QT that prevents calibre from supporting a similarly black-on-white scrolling book list widget despite the rest of the app being dark-on-light (when in dark mode)?

No Qt has the ability to override colors for any widget. But that's not something I am going to do. At that rate why stop there, there are tons of list widgets all over calibre, should they all be made light? What about tree widgets, table widgets? Image picking widgets? That way lies madness.

LOL fair enough: I would nevertheless petition for the main book list (ie. the canvas that takes up approx 80% of the UI when you launch calibre): if you made that switchable (light-on-dark or dark-on-light) and didn't touch any of the other widgets, I'd still be delighted, since that's the only UI element that I rely on: ie. the one that lists all my books.

You could share the code or what values change in details of the book to see the main screen in dark mode.
