No idea about remote desktop, probably some driver issue with your GPU drivers.

Wehen I am sitting at the new pc, not using Remote Desktop, V´Calibre starts correctly.
If you use the update Notification in the status bar, it takes you to the bit version you have. You need to be up 1 level on the download site to see ALL the OS versions. There you will see both Windows(32 implied) and Windows64
