The one I'm using came from an old cover I had for a different reader. It's about the thickness of a fingernail, and about 1/2 inch long. I'm using scotch tape to attach it to the cover, and that protects the screen from getting scratched.

Hi, I feel your pain. This is precisely what has had me holding off buying the Oasis 3. I really like the style of cover you are talking about (I know that most others don't). I am using the one by Ayotu. I love the way it looks, feels, works etc. If you find a reliable way to attach it to the back that works please speak up. I have wondered if some sort of magnetic tape might work, or even super thin velcro (if there is such a thing). I am worried however that this will be too thick and cause the case to stick out too much.I suppose some sort of strong double sided tape might work. Makes me mad that they took this action to prevent us from reusing our old cases.

I bought this case https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for my Oasis 2. Since it doesn't work on the Oasis 3, I attached double sided tape to adhere it to the back of my Oasis 3. I have a skin on the back of the Oasis 3, so no issues damaging the back. The double sided tape works perfectly and the case & Oasis are solidly adhered to each other.

ETA - the sleep/wake feature does not work. While it would certainly be convenient if it did, it's hardly a showstopper. Just wake it up/put it sleep manually with the push of button.

Thanks for confirming. Looks like the reusable nano gel tape is probably the way to go.

Only if you use tape or some other means to attach it, as we were discussing earlier. Also the wake/sleep will not work unless you add a magnet. I would not recommend buying one for the Oasis3, but if you already have one for an Oasis 2, and want to use it with your new Oasis 3, it is possible with the above improvisations.

This one supports the sleep/wake feature. It’s also very comfortable to hold, not too heavy and the sides are nice and rounded, not sharp or cold.

There are two versions of each color; one for the new 10th generation or 9th generation Oasis and one for the 9th generation only. I am very happy with this case.

Thanks. This explains why old original Amazon covers work for sleep/wake, but most old Aftermarket ones do not. The new sleep/wake position shifted to the outside edge and further down. The Amazon covers all have a magnet in the new position that was previously only used to hold the cover shut. I don't think it was maliciously done, but for optimizing reliability. On the O2 the sleep/wake doesn't always work unless you are very careful not to shift the cover.

I ordered and just received this one. I too am very happy with it. Sleep/wake feature works and equally important to me, it doesn't smell! The prime leather from Big A did (not of leather, probably glue) and their fabric one was ok, but is expensive and a tad rough feeling. Didn't return that one, but it wasn't right for me. This is a good one. At least for me.
