Some people prefer more evocative and imaginative names for colors. Decades ago I started ordering from a clothing catalog and was quite amused at the names they used for the colors of women's clothes; e.g., for a light shade of greenish blue it was Sea Foam, for a pale green it was Celery, Cantaloupe for light orange, and plenty of other fruit and berry names as well.

Of course- because there are more than fifteen or sixteen colours in the world. The ones you have mentioned are pretty standard, especially seafoam.

My issue with this particular colour name is just that I was expecting a gorgeous deep blue akin to the Pantone Twilight Blue. https://www.pantone.com/color-finder/19-3938-TCX

I agree it's not really Twilight blue, but it is pretty. I agree with others that without the bevel colored, it looks sort of like a clipon. Since I use a cover, it would be hidden this way - pity! Not ready to upgrade mine anyway, wish they had offered these color options when it first came out.

I know not everyone uses a cover. Those that don't mind their Kindle being at larger risk for damage should it be dropped and those that don't want to make their Kindle easier to hold.

But most people do use a cover and the front should be in blue not just the back. Making it the back only is a really bad idea on whoever came up with that really bad idea. I really liked the way Sony did the red 650 and the red T1.

I agree. Those old sonys especially the 650 were great looking....In any color actually.

Personally, not having the extra weight of the cover made my Paperwhite easier to hold.

Mind, I've found the PW3 surprisingly resilient. Much more solid construction compared to an iRiver Story HD I had a while back.

I liked that Sony made the entire bezel red. The way Amazon did it is very poor and I'd never see the color as I use a cover. The entire bezel needs to be that color.

That’s true, but while we have had white Kindles before (and still do in Kindle 10th gen), nobody ever compared them to urinal cakes.

Oddly enough, most of reading during the last week has been on a red Sony PRS-T2 I picked up on Shop Goodwill a year or so ago. The old owner left most of the Janet Evanovich "One for the Money..." series on it and I've been working my way through them — it seems like at some point these would get old, but the author is sometimes hilarious. (I don't feel too badly about this because I could be borrowing these books from the library but normally I delete the books left on a used eReader.) The T2 is still a nice reader. What's odd is that the red one has a slick finish, whereas the black one had more of a matte finish.

I didn't realize that the four colors (three colors and black) displayed for the Paperwhite in China are the same colors they already advertise for the bottom-of-the-line Fires here. It's "twilight" blue there also. The cyan color is called "sage" and the magenta color is called "plum" (which actually fits).

When I bought my bottom of-the-line Fire (now a previous generation) the blue was darker. They called it "marine" blue. The red one was named "punch" red and the yellow one was called "canary" yellow.

The names for generation before this one were... blue (just blue), magenta and the orange-ish one was called "tangerine."

And... after buying the "marine" blue Fire tablet, I bought a black Fintie cover... and the only blue that ever shows up is around the exposed edges.

I think I was going to get a blue Fintie case, but it didn't match the "marine" blue and I thought that would look odd.
